Mr. Oates is the owner and manager of Oates Specialties LLC. Founded in 2003, it is a manufacturer and retailer of sports conditioning accessories addressing the needs of the elite baseball pitcher. Working in conjunction with nationally renowned authorities, Oates Specialties has established a unique product line under its label and its proprietary TAP brand. Prior to forming Oates Specialties LLC, Mr. Oates served as an education administrator for the Texas prison system with extensive experience in personnel management, program development/operation, and the provision of a wide range of programs and services typically found in any school district. He was responsible for developing and administering annual budgets in excess of 15 million dollars. Oates has served on various boards and committees related to education and the Texas Legislature for over 30 years. He retired from the education field in 2003 with 32 years of service. Mr. Oates was also Founder and Co-owner of a full service private security company from 1971 to 1988, and has also been a principal in several real estate and property ventures since 1988. He currently lives in Huntsville, Texas with his wife Gloria and their son Brian…who played baseball for Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas and also spent two seasons in the Seattle Mariners organization.
