Lenny Kies brings a wealth of baseball experience to the Dutchmen coaching staff. Having coached baseball at the high school and collegiate level for 20 years, Kies has been a member of coaching staffs at SUNY Old Westbury (NCAA Division III-1992-93), Manhattan College (MAAC, NCAA Division I-1994-1997), and for the past year has greatly assisted in the recruiting of Russell Sage College’s (Empire 8, NCAA Division III) inaugural baseball team set to debut in Spring 2022.
Currently the Director of Athletics for the Bethlehem Central School District, Kies has been an athletic administrator for the past 16 years and has been an educator for 25 years. Over his career in education Kies has coached Varsity Baseball, served on the NYS Baseball Committee, was the Director of Hofstra University’s Baseball Camp (1991-2001), and has served on Stony Brook University’s Athletic Director’s Advisory Council - Baseball Representative (2004-2010).
No stranger to college summer baseball, Kies has been the hitting & outfielders coach for the Sag Harbor Whalers of the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League as well as the hitting/1st base coach for the Long Island Shamrocks of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League.
As a player Kies started his collegiate playing career as an outfielder for St. John’s University before finishing his career at Oneonta State, where he earned a B.S. in business economics. He also holds master’s degrees in both elementary education and school district administration from Long Island University.
