Frankie Sanchez (SNHU) has been named the Generation Land Management Player of the Week for Week Four (6/27/22-7/3/22). Sanchez dealt seven shutout innings with one hit and 11 punchouts on the week.

Sanchez threw two shutout innings with three strikeouts and one hit out of the bullpen on Monday, before following it up with five no-hit innings alongside eight punchouts in his first start of the summer on Saturday. The right hander was on top of his game in his start, mixing three pitches with precision.

“I felt good, the fastball was working well in and out of the zone, slider wasn’t there at the beginning but I found it, mixed the changeup well to their lefties and kept them off balance,” Sanchez said.

Albany was swept in a doubleheader by Mohawk Valley in their last meeting, which Sanchez says provided him with a bit of a spark for his inspired outing.

“We remember what they did to us last game, we came in, battled it out, and walked away with the win,” Sanchez said.

The New Jersey native is one of five Dutchmen starters with a sub-2.00 ERA, and will look to be a key piece to the Dutchmen staff in July.

“I wanted to go back out (for the 6th) but want to preserve my arm, I’ve got more weekends ahead,” Sanchez said.

Albany kicks off the new week for a Fourth of July tilt at Saugerties beginning at 7:05 pm.
