Dutchmen defeat Amsterdam 12-4.

Tuesday, July 6th (Amsterdam, NY)-- The Albany Dutchmen defeated the Amsterdam Mohawks Tuesday night by a final score of 12-4 to extend their win streak to four games.

Albany scored in each frame from the 3rd through the 5th, and exploded for a six run 7th inning. Every batter in the Dutchmen order reached base either via hit or base on balls as the Albany offense exploded for 12 runs on 14 hits and 5 walks.

In the 3rd inning the Dutchmen scored one run on a Ty Gallagher (Herkimer) double that started his 2-4 night, and scored Christian Kondo (Stetson) from second base after Kondo had a double of his own.

The Dutchmen plated two runs in the 4th inning courtesy of an Isaac Humphrey (Louisville) sacrifice fly that scored fellow Cardinal Logan Beard (Louisville), and Christian Kondo (Stetson) singled in Evan Fox (Stony Brook) as part of his 2-4 night.

Amsterdam scored their first runs of the night on a three run shot from Kai Roberts (Utah) in the bottom of the 4th that tied the game as the top ranked Mohawks seemed that they might get back to their dominant ways.

Albany retook the lead in a three run 5th inning in which Ty Gallagher (Herkimer) picked up his second RBI of the night this time on a double that scored Jack Peterson (Trinity). Mike Handal (Fairfield) joined the RBI double theme when he traded places with Gallagher, and Evan Fox (Stony Brook) took a four pitch walk that scored Ryan McGee (Siena) to extend the Dutchmen lead to three runs.

The Mohawks cut into the Albany lead on a Matt Shaw (Maryland) double that scored Riley Langerman (Maryland) to cut the deficit to two runs.

Albany took all momentum back and got a plethora of insurance runs in the form of a huge six run 7th inning. Logan Beard (Louisville) picked up a 2 RBI single that scored Ryan McGee (Siena) who was 3-4 on the night and Will Stroud (Azusa Pacific). Evan Fox (Stony Brook) picked up his 2nd RBI of the night on a sacrifice fly that scored Mike Handal (Fairfield). The lone long ball of the night for the Dutchmen would be the cherry on top as Isaac Humphrey (Louisville) clobbered a three run shot to cap off his 4 RBI night.

Michael DiMartino (Fairleigh Dickinson) was amazing out of the bullpen for the Dutchmen as the right hander threw three no hit innings with seven strikeouts to keep Amsterdam at bay.

Albany returns home Wednesday, June 7th for a 6:35 first pitch against the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs which will be SEFCU Hometown Heroes Night at Keenholts Park.
