The Albany Dutchmen (9-5) pounded out 18 hits combined as they swept a doubleheader against the Saugerties Stallions (6-7) Saturday night.

The Dutchmen bats were burning hot in game one, as the team as a whole pounded out nine hits, including two home runs.

Justin Childers (Ohio Dominican University) led the offense, as he reached base all four times, including powering his 2nd home run of the year over the left field fence in the bottom of the 1st.

After Childers homer in the bottom of the first gave the Dutchmen a 2-0 lead, they tacked on a 3rd in the bottom of the 2nd, as Tristan Rojas (Seminole State College of Florida) stole home, after Childers went for 2nd, garnering a throw, allowing Rojas to score.

After a RBI single from Malcolm Nachmanoff (Stony Brook University) extended the Dutchmen lead to four in the bottom of the 5th, the Dutchmen put on three more runs in the bottom of the 6th to provide the final score of 7-0, after Carson Klepzig (University of Mississippi) hit a solo home run for his first bomb of the year and a Rojas triple and Nachmanoff single provided the final two tallies.

Jack Grabek (Bucknell University) was great on the mound, allowing Saugerties only 4 hits and shutting them out, walking only 1 batter and striking out 6 batters.

Rojas also was a honorable mention, as he went 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI triple, and Nachmanoff finished 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI singles.

In Game 2, the Dutchmen completed their double header sweep with a walk-off win in the bottom of the 8th inning to give themselves a 4-3 victory over Saugerties.

Just as Justin Childers (Ohio Dominican University) started the scoring for the Dutchmen in game one with a two-run homerun in game one, he ended it in game two with a walk-off single to score Mychael Goudreau (Azusa Pacific University) from second base to give the Dutchmen their first walk-off victory of the season.

Childers, who originally was given the second game off for the double header, replaced Jack Gethings (Fairfield University) in the bottom of the 6th inning at third base. He would pop out in his first at bat, but finished the game going 1-2, with the lone RBI.

Albany started off hot, like normal, scoring a run in each of the first three innings to give starting pitcher, Kale Morton (Azusa Pacific University) a comfortable three-run lead heading into the fourth inning.

Morton would go 4.2 innings, surrendering no runs, while allowing two hits, walking two, and striking out two Stallions.

The Dutchmen found themselves in some trouble with Nick Silber (Rice University) allowing two unearned runs after an error by Bray Curreri (College of Saint Rose) allowed a ground ball to get by him.

In the top of the 7th, the Stallions would once again be on the lucky bounce as Dillin Diem (Indiana State University) couldn’t scoop a ground ball to him on first base as Saugerties would plate the game-tying run on Drew Robertson (Baylor University).

Joe Pokrentowski (College of Saint Rose) would get the win for the Dutchmen, his first of the season, as he went 1.1 innings without allowing a hit, and struck out one.

Saugerties has the day off tomorrow before traveling to Oneonta on Monday to face the Outlaws.

The Dutchmen head to Mohawk Valley tomorrow night to face the DiamondDawgs at 6:35, before having the day off Monday and returning home Tuesday night to face the Glens Falls Dragons at 7:05 for 2 for 2uesday and Trivia Tuesday.
